The Ohio Boater Education Card (also referred to as the Ohio boating license) is proof that a boater has taken and passed an approved boater education course. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Watercraft currently has a mandatory boater education requirement for all persons born on or after January 1, 1982 who operate a boat powered by greater than 10 hp. Many boaters who do not fall into this category will still wish to get the Ohio Boater Education Card so they can save on their boat insurance.
